My neurologist referred me to a physical therapist since a lot of my migraines are accompanied by neck pain. I had my first appointment with the PT on Monday and learned that wow, it’s amazing how screwed up my neck and upper back are. I won’t bore you with all the details, but what it means is I need to buy a Tempurpedic pillow, change my posture so I don’t have too much space between my shoulder blades, reduce the amount of weight I’m carrying in my backpack (no more carrying groceries home in my backpack. In fact I ordered a smaller lighter weight backpack than the one I have now. And I have to get one of those carts to wheel groceries home in). And I’ve been trying out different chairs at work because she said I should be using one with armrests. But once I adjusted the armrests so they were at a comfortable height and my arms were on them, I couldn’t reach my keyboard or mouse, so I need to get a keyboard tray.
It’s going to take a while to get used to the changes, but yeah, I know my neck is screwed up (have I mentioned that I fell on my head when I was but a wee babe?). If I can work out adaptations that make me feel better that would be cool. I could actually be productive instead of sleeping all day to escape the pain. Awesome.
