I don’t know how it got to be December 8 already. I’m still trying to figure out how it got to be 2010. Ok, I understand it logically. Time passes. But it still seems really really weird to me that something that happened in 1990 happened 20 years ago. But I digress.
If you’re thinking of getting something from Happy Fuzzy Yarn to give to someone for Christmas, you’d probably like to have it in time. If you’re in the US, I need to get it in the mail by Dec. 20. As long as I have your order by noon (EST) on the 20th, I’ll get it out that day. If you’re anywhere else*, I need to mail it by the 10th (yes, that’s this Friday) for you to get it in time. Same deal, send me your order by noon (EST), and I’ll get it out that day.
You can order gift certificates any time of course. I’ll be happy to email those directly to the recipient if you like.
And because I’m nice, here’s a coupon: enter TREE10 when you check out to get 10% off through December 24 (discount doesn’t apply to shipping).
And lastly, a plea for help. As some of you know, I have a 20 hour/week day job in addition to working an average of 35 hours/week on Happy Fuzzy Yarn. And as some of you know, I have beastly migraines, not to mention bouts of depression. I don’t know how much long I’ll be able to continue the day job. The migraines and depression are getting worse, and even with only 20 hrs/wk scheduled, I’m missing more time than I’m working. The job is really stressful, which really exacerbates my health problems. Spinning on the other hand is very relaxing, and I can do it even when my head hurts. And I can dye as long as my headache isn’t too bad.
My goal for some time has been to grow my business to the point that it supports me fully and quit the day job. I’ve made significant progress, but I’m not there yet. I’m starting to look into the possibility of getting some kind of grant to make up the difference. Unfortunately trying to wade through the possibilities and separate relevant info from irrelevant (not to mention the scams) makes my head hurt.
If you know of any grants or other financial assistance available for women/artists/entrepreneurs/small business owners/people with disabilities (pick any that apply), please let me know. Or if you have any other ideas for ways to bring more money my way (I’m already working on some patterns and I’m planning to start teaching knitting and dyeing in the new year), please share. I’ll appreciate it more than you know.
*Unless you’re in Africa or Central or South America, in which case it’s already too late, but I don’t think I’ve ever had orders from any of those places. Also if you have an APO zip code starting with 093, the deadline has passed. I don’t know why that zip takes longer than the other APO locations (which I need to get out the 10th), but maybe someone can enlighten me?
