Mimicry

designed by Michelle Trudeau Fleming

Designer Michelle Trudeau Fleming combines one of her favorite cable patterns with a flanking complementary lace design in this scarf. The lace design seems to mimic the cable, or is it the other way around? A simple seed stitch border finishes it off and prevents the stockinette in the lace from curling. She loved the idea of using cables and lace in the same design, so she was happy when she was able to figure out how to combine this beautiful cable with a lace that fits so well with it.

Fruit Fling

designed by Riin Gill

Made of one of our Corrie Sock Gradient Sets, this shawl is a long, narrow, asymmetrical triangle made up of garter ridge stripes with a lace chevron motif along the longest edge and repeated along the short edge. It starts with the point of the chevron and slowly adds stitches along one side, getting gradually wider. It’s 8 feet long, long enough to wrap around yourself several times! Have fun flinging it around your neck and shoulders in every way you can imagine.

Spring Valley Shawl

Carol designed and knit this shawl while Spring broke the fever of Winter in Michigan. She really loved how the darker Shadow undulated between the brighter hues of Granny Smith and Verdigris, inspiring the name for this shawl.

Hypotenuse

designed by Riin Gill

The hypotenuse is the side opposite the right angle in a right triangle. Each motif in this lightweight, shimmery scarf or rectangular shawl has three right triangles: a stockinette triangle, a reverse stockinette triangle, and a lace triangle (holey triangle, Batman!) … in theory anyway. In practice there are waves and curves instead of straight lines. The Merino Tencel Fingering yarn has a lovely drape, so the triangles seem to be draping as well.

Basketweave Lace Shawl/Shawlette

designed by Riin Gill

This is a simple lace shawl pattern that’s easy enough to work on while you’re watching TV (as long as you use plenty of stitch markers so your fingers know when to yarn over!). The shawlette version is a perfect one skein project that will keep your neck warm inside your coat on blustery days, or wear it to keep the chill off your shoulders on summer evenings or in an air conditioned office. For a larger shawl, use two skeins and keep knitting until you’ve reached the full size or whenever you decide it’s big enough to wrap yourself in.
