Fibers

All of the fibers below are available in all of our current colorways.

Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) combed top

Bluefaced Leicester wool is my favorite fiber. It’s really easy to spin, it’s so soft, and it has a beautiful luster.

  • 4 ounces of hand dyed BFL combed wool top.
  • NOT superwash, so it can be felted if you wish.

Merino/Yak combed top

This is absolutely incredibly soft! And it’s a natural heathery gray, so any colorway I dye is darker, more toned down, and heathery than the same colorway on a natural white base. The natural gray shows in any undyed areas. If you like more suble colors, this is a good fiber for you. And did I mention it’s incredibly soft?

  • 2 ounces of hand dyed combed top.
  • 50% merino wool/50% Tibetan Yak

Merino/Tencel combed top

I’ve carried a merino/tencel yarn for years, and I love its frosty shimmer and the way it drapes. This is a merino/tencel combed top with the same shimmer and drape! It’s easy to spin, and it’s shiny! What more could you ask for?

  • 4 ounces of hand dyed combed top.
  • 50% merino wool/50% tencel
  • NOT superwash, so it can be felted if you wish (the tencel will not felt, but the wool will felt around the tencel and hold it in place).

Falkland combed top

Falkland wool is really easy to spin, it’s so soft. It comes from the Falkland Islands where there aren’t any of the parasites that sometimes bother sheep, therefore the sheep aren’t treated with any chemicals. Yay!

  • 4 ounces of hand dyed Falkland combed wool top.
  • NOT superwash, so it can be felted if you wish.

Polwarth combed top

Polwarth wool is so incredibly soft, it’s decadent.

  • 4 ounces of hand dyed Polwarth combed wool top.
  • NOT superwash, so it can be felted if you wish.

Superfine merino combed top

You want soft? This is soft! Incredibly soft! Normal merino is already very fine, but this is classified as “superfine,” fibers with an average diameter of 19 microns. It’s perfect for next to the skin wear, or for nuno felting a special project!

  • 4 ounces of hand dyed 19 micron merino combed wool top.
  • NOT superwash, so it can be felted if you wish.

Bluefaced Leicester (BFL)/Silk combed top

Bluefaced Leicester wool is my favorite fiber. It’s really easy to spin, it’s so soft, and it has a beautiful luster. Here it is combined with silk for even more luster!

  • 4 ounces of hand dyed combed top.
  • 75% bluefaced leicester wool/25% tussah silk
  • NOT superwash, so it can be felted if you wish (the silk will not felt, but the wool will felt around the silk and hold it in place).

Bombyx Silk combed top

Silk is synonymous with luxury. Treat yourself to pure silk. This is bombyx silk, also known as cultivated silk or mulberry silk. It has an amazing luster. And for fun, hold it up to your ear and squeeze it; it makes a unique “scroinch” sound!

  • 2 ounces of hand dyed combed top.
  • 100% bombyx silk
